Reading about all those racial skepticism,or even worse, disunity among Malays and Muslims back home, makes me ponders about my schooldays life..I am very passionate about unity, and it was during my schooldays that I was taught about it thoroughly.. I hate it when people got disunited..
So guys and girls, this is what I've been taught in school.. Semua orang adalah sama..Tiada perbezaan taraf..No one is superior than the other.. It sounds and looks simple isn't it?
My school, which everyone considered as a prison back then, has let us to have experienced the meaning of 'togetherness' for 5 years.. People came from every kind of background and races.. Ada anak peneroka, anak petani, anak Tan Sri,anak driver lori, anak lawyer, anak tauke balak, kaya, miskin, dari Kelantan,KL,kampung, bandar, hensem, tak hensem..semua ada..hehe..
Imagine, for 5 years, hundreds of us stayed and sleep under the same roof, shared the same bathrooms, eat together, played together, studied together..We became family.. Anak raja ke,anak nelayan ke,anak gangster ke,semua makan makanan yang sama, tidur di katil goyang yang sama, semua basuh baju sendiri, semua kene pegi surau tiap-tiap hari..etc.. We weren't allowed to wear expensive clothings, not allowed to have shining shoes etc.. Everything is almost standardized.. So all this created a sense of belongings, sense of responsibility, respects, togetherness and humbleness.. It taught us about why we cannot do this, and why we cannot do that kinda thing.. We learned to understand and compromise with people's sensitivity in religions, culture, social status, family background, and interests..
Until now,we are still like 'adik-beradik'..not just schoolmates..
I am not saying I have the best school, but all these are just a good example on how to create understanding and sensivity towards each other.. I am quite interested with the idea of having one school system in the country.. If I am a minister,I'll build more of this kind of school, top quality, with mixture of everything,everyone..
Believe me,you won't be less Malay, less Chinese, less this and less that by being in it.. In fact, you will gain more than you can ever imagine..:-)..You'll be Malaysian..
SELAMAT MENYAMBUT BULAN KEMERDEKAAN~

My school pun ada ajar unity juga.
eh, u come to Aussie pun belajar unity jugak la.
u just have to pandai go outside the 'box' je.. :p
Yup..true that..:-)
Just pelik everytime baca paper kt Msia mesti ada pasal disunity..
Its like we look united only on the surface, but not from within..
Kalau nak cerita unity dekat Msia memang sampai bila-bila pun tak akan habis cerita sebab kebanyakan politician akan try untuk unite Msian but the citizens themselves yang kadang2 tak nak. Kalau duduk asrama memang boleh. Tapi kalau sekolah2 biasa lagi2 yg dekat KL semua. Susah kot... :)
